Join us at Fishtrap Lake on June 11-12 for the end of the 2022 Ultimate Orienteer Series. Fishtrap Lake has a unique scabland terrain, where the vistas are expansive but details are plentiful. There are few trails in this area, so you’ll appreciate the plethora of contour and rock details as you traverse this beautiful desert area. June is a great time of year for wildflowers here, so you might want to take a moment to enjoy them.
The Saturday event is a Middle distance National Ranking Event with courses in the standard range of White through Blue. The Sunday event is a Goat style event with five courses of different distance and difficulty.
These two events are the culminating events of the Pacific Northwest Orienteering Festival – Nine events over nine days. The PNWOF starts in Missoula on June 4 with an NRE Classic and a sprint organized by Grizzly Orienteering. The mid-week events are organized by Eastern Washington Orienteering Club. See the PNWOF webpage for general information about the festival and links to the individual events. Register through the PNWOF registration site for the entire festival or select the events you want to attend.

Team up with yourself for Ultimate Orienteer Series #3, an Individual Relay at Ft. Steilacoom Park. Depending on your course, you’ll do 2 or 3 legs, picking up a different map each time through the exchange area. The format is Motala, an individual relay with the legs run in different order and the legs are without forking. More info on the event page (https://cascadeoc.org/event/2022-ultimate-orienteer-3-ft-steilacoom-motala/). Registration closes on Wednesday night at 9:00 PM (https://register.cascadeoc.org/). We also need several more volunteers so please consider signing up and helping out.

Congratulations to COC Members Jessica Colleran and Eric Bone for being named to the 2022 OUSA National Team. Eric, a veteran of 20 WOC’s, joins the Elite squad, while Jessica in her first year out of junior status was named to the Performance squad. Both competed this past summer in Europe at WOC and JWOC respectively.
Congratulations to COC members Annika Mihata, Benjamin Brady, and Zariah Zosel for being named to this year’s Junior National Team. This marks the first time on the Jr National team for all three, although Ben ran for team USA at JWOC last summer while being on the Jr Development Team.
All 5 are alumni or active participants of COC’s WIOL program.

The ordering is now open for Cascade OC shirts and hoodie in red. These are all tech shirts except the hoodie. The ladies short sleeve shirt is a slightly different product, that sport tech shirt is not available currently in women’s red.
This order closes at noon on March 26th. You place the order directly with
customink.com and the shirts/hoodie is shipped to your address. These shirts cannot be ordered and paid with volunteer points. This is also a fundraiser for COC.
Note on the design placement:
On the website, they look like the printing is all over, but it will be centered appropriately on each product. It is because there are multiple products; the design is centered on the first product shown and the shown image is not adjustable for the other products. This order is open for 2 weeks and will ship approximately 12 days after the order closes taking 3-5 days to arrive. Unfortunately these will not be available in time for Jr Nationals.

Go to UsynligO.no (https://usynligo.no/) and scroll into Hamlin Park. Look for the event “2022 Ultimate Orienteer #1 Night O Hamlin Park 3/12/2022”.
Never heard of UsynligO? Check out the instructions at https://cascadeoc.org/how-to-use-usynligo/. There is also good info here (https://cascadeoc.org/2021-winter-virtual-series/).

PLEASE REGISTER ASAP to help COC volunteers put on the best meet possible.
WL Championships will be a two-day event this year.
