Join us for the opening weekend of the 2024 Pacific Northwest Orienteering Festival!
This year we’ll be finishing the Ultimate season (and starting PNWOF2024) with two excellent events at Fisk State Park near Spokane. To make the event even more special, we’ll be debuting two new maps and hosting two National Ranking Events (NREs)!
Location and terrain
Terrain is open pine forest with very detailed rock features in the sprint area. Check out the drone flyover from 2023 to get an aerial preview.
Embargo
To ensure competitive fairness and in accordance with OUSA rules, the race venue is embargoed until the competition, i.e. anyone wishing to be eligible for competitive awards may not enter Fisk State Park (except the parking area, designated training area, and entry road) before the event.
Maps
Sprint map is 1:4,000 scale, mapped to ISSprOM 2019-2 standard. Middle map is 1:10,000, mapped to ISOM 2017-2 standard.

Registration for PNWOF2024 will open in March 2024. Registration is through OUSA’s EventReg.
Participation in the Marmot Cup is limited to 150 per day, so sign up early to guarantee a spot.

COC members – register using volunteer points
If you’re a COC members, you may use volunteer points to pay for a portion of your entry fee (online pre-registration only). Email marmot@cascadeoc.org and ask for a discount code, specifying one event day or both.
Timing system
We will use the SPORTident electronic timing and punching system for all events. All competitors are required to use an SI-Card to participate. If you don’t own your own, sign up to rent one when you register. Contactless (Air+) punching will NOT be used.
Malfunction
If the SI unit fails (you don’t hear a beep or see a flash), use the manual pin punch to punch your map. Before downloading, let the volunteer know what happened and be prepared to show your manual punches.
Start times
All events will have individual pre-assigned start times. Times will be posted on the registration site by Thursday, June 20 at midnight. Recreational classes will start after all competitive participants on that course have started.
Awards
Classes with fewer than 3 participants may be combined with other classes on the same course.
- Sprint NRE (two-round total time) – 3 deep in age classes; 1st place in other competitive classes
- Middle NRE – 3 deep in age classes; 1st place in other competitive classes
- Marmot Cup (2-day total time; must participate in all events in the same class) – 1st place in all competitive classes
Child Care
No child care will be provided. However, we will make every effort to accommodate parents who are participating. If you require early, late, or split start times, please request this when you register.
Refund Policy
You may receive a full refund (minus fees) if you cancel by June 10. No refunds will be given after this date.

Turn-by-turn directions:
From the west
- From I90, take Exit 264 (Hwy 902, W. Salnave Rd)
- Turn left onto W. Salnave Rd and head north
- Just north of Medical Lake, turn left onto W. Brooks Rd
- Continue as W. Brooks Rd bends 90 degrees to the right and becomes S. Brooks Rd
- Continue on S. Brooks Rd to SR2
- Turn left onto SR2
- In 2 miles, turn right onto S. Wood Rd
- Continue on S. Wood Rd for 1 mile, when it becomes N. Wood Rd
- Continue on N. Wood Rd for 10 miles, when it bends 90 degrees right and becomes W. Charles Rd
- Continue on W. Charles Rd for 4 miles.
- Turn left to continue on W. Charles Rd
- In 1 mile, turn left onto N. South Bank Rd
- In 5 miles, N. South Bank Rd becomes W. South Bank Rd
- Continue for 4 miles to Fisk State Park
From the east
- From I90, take Exit 277 (Hwy 2 north)
- After 3 miles, turn right onto Flint Rd
- After 2.2 miles, turn right onto W. Trails Rd
- After 1/2 mile, turn left onto N. Old Trails Rd
- After 6 miles, turn left onto W. 7 Mile Rd
- After 5 miles, turn right onto W. 4 Mound Rd
- After 1 mile, turn right onto N. Dover Rd

- In 1 mile, turn left onto N. South Bank Rd

Parking
Discover Pass Required
You need a Discover Pass to park at Fisk. There is no on-site purchase option, so be sure you purchase the pass in advance. The Discover Pass is good for all state-operated recreation facilities.
You can purchase a Discover Pass at one of the following nearby state facilities ($30 annual or $10/day):

You can also purchase a Discover Pass ($35 annual or $11.50/day) online or in person at many hunting/fishing license vendors or at several retail locations. Check the Discover Pass website for details.
Carpooling
There are about 40 designated parking spots at Fisk, as well as parking along the entrance road. We encourage carpooling, which will not only save on parking fees but alleviate traffic congestion.

No RVs or trailers are allowed in the group camp. However, if you have an RV or trailer, you may book your own individual site (see info below).
