Once a farm, then a golf course, and now a popular wedding venue, Olson Mansion is a combination of open grass, ponds, and woodland. The map was created and is maintained by our friends at Tahoma Orienteering. Note that Olson Mansion is not a public park, but rather private property owned and operated by the New Community Church, so permission is required for entry.

Note: Samples of the map are provided here for educational purposes only; the map shown here is not kept up-to-date. The course shown is a Beginner/Intermediate course, and actual controls do not exist in the terrain.

The purpose of providing these navigational and physical ratings below is to provide greater context for how challenging an orienteering course at this venue might be. For example, anĀ advanced-level course at a local city park will be easier to complete than an advanced-level course in the mountains.

Navigational Challenge Rating: 2/10

Navigation at Olson Mansion is relatively simple, so this venue has historically been used for the Wednesday Evening Series. Most of the property consists of open grassy meadows or thick green vegetation (e.g. blackberry) so it’s usually easy to relocate if you get confused.

Physical Challenge Rating: 3/10

The grassy surfaces underfoot are for the most part smooth and fast – but the hills at this venue can be surprisingly taxing!
